How to set up a Custom Audience to retarget your email database

Written instructions step-by-step for retargeting your email database

  • Select Audiences from the Menu

  • Select Custom Audience

  • Select Customer List

  • Read the on-screen guidance notes that explain how your file should be formatted for upload (ensure that you save your Excel file as a CSV format)

  • If your file does not contain a VALUE (see explainer video if you don’t know what this is) then select NO

  • Give your Audience a name that you will easily remember and click Create

  • The first time you create this type of audience you will be asked to accept Facebooks T&Cs fr data handling compliance
  • Of course, it would be a violation of GDPR regulations to upload data that you do not have permission to use. However, as the data is encrypted by Facebook once it is uploaded it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for anyone to prove that they were targeted with ads using this method. Of course, it must be pointed out that we do not condone any practices that are in breach of GDPR regulations.
